CNC Machinists Job Description:

  • Following process instructions setup and operate various CNC and conventional machines and perform various machining operations according to customer specifications and drawings.
  • Must be able to effectively utilize various measuring devices (micrometers, pin gages, etc.) to determine conformance to specification, drawings.
  • Train other machine operators and assist them on an as-needed basis.
  • Maintains overall cleanliness of work area.
  • Contribute to team activities which would include process and safety improvement.

Education and Experience:

Successful candidates will have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

We are looking for two full positions on 2nd shift.

Current Work Schedule:

Monday – Thursday, 10 hours

Fridays and Saturdays are reserved for overtime based off production requirements – currently working Fridays and a couple Saturdays a month

2nd shift – 2:30pm to 12:30am

JOB TITLE: Pouring Operator/Furnace
SUMMARY: Pour hot metal into molds and monitors, clean and fill furnaces to melt metal prior to casting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
1. Load aluminum ingot and gating into furnace by hand.
2. Operate furnace controls to maintain specified temperature.
3. Observe color and consistency of metal to maintain quality.
4. Observe color of instruments and tools to maintain safety.
5. As applicable, add flux to molten metal inside furnace to bring impurities to the surface while forming a layer of film, which is subsequently skimmed off.
6. Monitor level of gas inside furnace. Take samples and check against standard on process sheets and gas level charts. May operate degasser to remove gas from furnace.
7. Manipulate foot levers or hand valve to open and close furnace lid. Dip ladle into furnace for transportation to molds.
8. Transports ladle to pouring station and pours appropriate amount of metal into molds according to process sheets and height of mold.
9. Maintain cleanliness of work area.
10. Perform Furnace Tender duties as required.
11. Must be willing to contribute to team activities which would include process and safety improvement.

We are looking for full time positions on 1st shift.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Read process sheets in order to process castings according to customer’s required dimensions and tolerances.
  2. Operate shot blasting and high speed impact/vibratory equipment to clean and remove core materials from the casting as required and as directed.
  3. Safely operate power fork truck to move materials as needed (requires formal in-house training).
  4. Maintain cleanliness of work area.

  2. Perform first piece inspections from the CNC Dept.
  3. Perform tensile testing.
  4. Perform spectrometer testing.
  5. Do Romer scans & overlays.
  6. Perform x-ray inspections.
  7. Layout parts for PPAP.
  8. Participate in GR&R studies.
  9. Do capability studies.
  10. Assist in maintaining calibration system.
  11. Become a backup for sand lab testing.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Set up and prove out CNC and conventional machining centers for production runs.
  • Interpret process instructions, blueprints, GD&T, and customer specifications.
  • Set up, align, and verify production fixtures, vises, chucks, and work-holding devices for aluminum castings.
  • Locate part datums and establish work offsets (machine zero and work zero).
  • Set and verify tool lengths and tool diameter offsets.
  • Load, verify, and edit CNC programs as required for setup, prove-out, and optimization.
  • Understand CNC programming fundamentals including coordinate systems, offsets, cutter compensation, feeds, and speeds.
  • Perform first-article inspections and make offset or tooling adjustments as required.
  • Monitor machining processes to maintain dimensional accuracy and surface finish.
  • Document measurements, checks, and process changes per quality requirements.
  • Use precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gages, indicators, and pin gages.
  • Troubleshoot setup, tooling, fixture, and process issues to reduce downtime and scrap.
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and supervision on process improvements.
  • Assist in training and supporting machine operators during production.
  • Perform routine machine and fixture inspections and maintain an organized work area.
  • Safely move materials, castings, and tooling using forklifts, cranes, or carts (training provided).
  • Follow all safety policies and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Education, Experience, and Attributes:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Machining or technical certificate preferred.
  • 2–5 years of CNC machining and setup experience in a manufacturing or foundry environment, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining setup procedures.
  • Experience setting up fixtures and work-holding for aluminum castings.
  • Ability to find and set part zero using indicators, probes, edge finders, or manual methods.
  • Knowledge of tool setting procedures and tool offset management.
  • Working knowledge of CNC programming (G-code) related to setup and prove-out.
  • Ability to read blueprints and apply GD&T principles.
  • Proficiency in shop math, tolerances, and basic SPC concepts.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
