Machining Quality Control

Coordinate Measuring Machine

Bremer Manufacturing utilizes a Hexagon Global Green S 7.10.7 coordinate measuring machine for dimensional verification of part features using PC-DMIS programming software. Our coordinate measuring machine is used to layout parts for PPAP and is used extensively for in-process checks on machined parts running in production. The volumetric accuracy of this machine at calibration is approximately 0.0003”. Gage R&R studies and capability studies are regularly performed on the CMM to verify accuracy of programs and measurements. Calibration is performed annually by 3rd party certified technicians.

Bremer uses Rayco modular fixturing to provide quick design and setup to orient parts properly on the CMM table.

Romer Arm Laser Scanning

As part of our quality control procedures, Bremer Manufacturing utilizes laser scanning to check the profile of cast surfaces of our parts with a Romer Absolute 8330 7-Axis system featuring laser scanning capabilities. Geomagic Inspect software has been used for the analysis, and we are now integrating Polyworks software. The Romer laser scanning system generates a complete, accurate 3D image of the casting and allows this data to be overlaid onto a step file of the 3D CAD part model, to provide a graphical output of surface deviations. When sampling new patterns, a part from each tooling cavity is scanned. Scans can also be used to verify pattern dimensions and wear over time.
