Secondary Processes

  • Saw – Removal of gating, risers, and flash
  • Belt / Grind – Grinding primarily the parting line to within specification. Also removal of flash and gating to within specification.
  • Trim press – For high volume production (10,000+ pcs per year) utilizing a trim press for flash removal can reduce the need for grinding and improve processing times and costs.
  • Shot Blasting – 100% of Bremer castings are shot blasted using primarily a stainless steel media to remove residual sand from the molding process and to provide a uniform surface all over. Less aggressive blasting is available utilizing the cabinet blasters.
  • Burnishing – If a shiny patina is required, burnishing the castings can provide such a result. Castings are placed in a vibratory deburring machine with stainless media for a set amount of time, along with water and detergent, to create a glossy finish.
  • Washing – For customers that have cleanliness requirements, Bremer has a stationary batch washer to satisfy requirements. Millipore testing can also be performed as required.
  • Leak Testing – Bremer utilizes under-water as well as stand-alone pressure decay units to ensure castings meet the pressure tight requirements.
  • Welding – Bremer has a dedicated welding work cell to perform production welding as well as repair welding.
  • Assembly – Bremer can assemble components on to machined castings. Common assembly components include helicoils, dowel pins, plugs, tubes, etc.
